Optimizing energy costs with Cosmos EMS

Ampowr offers Battery Systems (BESS) and cyber secure Energy Management Software (EMS). To optimize energy flows, reduce congestion and cut down energy costs, we have developed our Optimization Model. This system intelligently manages your batteries by predicting energy use, solar/wind production, and using market prices (EPEX / Day Ahead). This helps it figure out the best times to charge and discharge your batteries, or curtail your PV, whilst always keeping the customer’s contractual import and export limits in mind.

How It Works

Our Optimization system creates an optimized plan for your batteries and other energy assets such as PV. It decides when to charge and discharge based on predictions of:

  • Your energy use
  • On-site solar or wind production
  • Day-ahead electricity prices

The system charges your battery when prices are low and discharges it when prices are high to power your site or send energy back to the grid. If you have solar panels, it can also choose to charge the battery with solar power or feed that energy into the grid when prices are most favorable. In case of negative prices it can decide to do curtailment.

This approach lets you combine net-zero and peak-shaving strategies in the most cost-effective way. For example, if your battery has more capacity than you need for net-zero operations, the system feeds the extra energy during the most profitable periods.

Key Features

Reduce Costs
By charging when prices are low and discharging when they’re high, you spend less on expensive grid energy.

More profit from feed-in
By feeding your excess energy back into the grid when prices are high, you benefit from higher compensation for feed-in.

Support the Grid
You help stabilize the grid and reduce pressure during peak times by using energy when it’s abundant and inexpensive.

Use More Renewable Energy
The system helps you make the most of your onsite solar or wind power and avoid relying on non-renewable sources when prices are high.

Is This Strategy Right for You?

This optimization strategy is a great fit if you have:

  • Dynamic energy contracts with prices that change throughout the day.
  • Onsite generation (like solar or wind) and want to maximize self-consumption.

At Ampowr, we’re committed to creating smart energy strategies that adapt to the changing energy market. Our goal is to help you to operate as reliably, efficiently and profitably as possible.
