A-Gas is a UK-headquartered specialist in the recovery, reclamation, and supply of refrigerant gases globally. Their facility in Eygelshoven, Netherlands, processes industrial gases that require uninterrupted power and strict process control.
The site runs continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no maintenance window, no quiet shift, and no tolerance for downtime. When A-Gas set out to expand operational capacity at Eygelshoven, the grid could not support it and standard approaches did not fit the site’s constraints.
A-Gas Netherlands needed more power than their grid connection could supply, without ever stopping production. Ampowr delivered two AmpiTOWER Liquid Cooled systems, Cosmos EMS, and a fully integrated generator steering solution.

Challenges
A-Gas set out to expand operational capacity at Eygelshoven. Four constraints stood in the way, and each one ruled out a conventional answer.

GRID CONGESTION
No network headroom for additional load, and reinforcement was not available within A-Gas’s planning horizon.

24/7 CONTINUOUS OPERATION
The facility never stops, leaving no off-peak window to reduce demand or charge a battery.

Night-time consumption stayed near peak, ruling out most standard peak-shaving setups.

The Ampowr Solution
HARDWARE
AMPITOWER LIQUID COOLED
Ampowr delivered two AmpiTOWER Liquid Cooled systems, 100 kW / 232 kWh each, built for continuous high-utilization duty cycles.
Combined, they provide 200 kW and 464 kWh of on-site storage in a compact footprint, sized for a site that draws near its peak around the clock.
A custom acoustic enclosure, delivered by a third party, keeps the installation within local noise regulations while preserving full service access to both units. Production continued throughout delivery and commissioning.
Cosmos Energy Management System (EMS)
PEAK SHAVING
The battery covers demand above the contracted limit, so the grid line stays flat through the working day.
Ampowr’s in-house developed Cosmos EMS is integrated into all Ampowr BESS solutions, including the AmpiTOWER systems at A-Gas. From one dashboard the client monitors and controls the entire environment, generation, storage, grid and generator, in real time, while Cosmos dispatches power automatically.
Cosmos EMS at A-Gas includes:
Peak shaving: During peak demand the battery discharges to hold grid draw below the contracted connection limit, avoiding congestion penalties and freeing capacity without a new grid connection.
Generator steering: Cosmos decides when to dispatch the battery, when to call the existing third-party generator, and how to prioritize grid draw, balancing all three sources automatically to keep the site within its connection limit at all times.
Dashboard: The Cosmos portal gives real-time visibility of storage levels, grid draw, generator status, and site load, all managed against the connection limit.
Data Security: Software fully designed, developed, and hosted in Europe. ISO 27001 certified and NIS2 compliant.
The Bottom Line
