CLIMATE ACTION STARTING NOW –
NET ZERO BY 2050

Everyone has a role in climate action. The United Nations are calling on people everywhere to work together to solve climate challenges and realize the commitments of the 2015 Paris Agreement.

We at Ampowr like the UN strive to keep up with actions taken by governments, businesses, civil society, youth and more in every part of the world.

It’s our planet, and while we know it is in crisis, we also know that solutions are in reach. Progress is already well underway, from more green energy to more secure food supplies. And the benefits are clear as well, such as green jobs, clean air and sounder economies. A more sustainable, prosperous world is in reach. Join us in taking action to claim it, starting now.

CREATING A RENEWABLE FUTURE

Energy consumption is by far the biggest source of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for a whopping 76% worldwide. The energy sector includes transportation, electricity and heat, buildings, manufacturing and construction, fugitive emissions and other fuel combustion.

It’s interesting that when we fly we can find out exactly how many tons of carbon dioxide it takes to get us there, but it isn’t so easy to find out what the impact is of producing energy systems on the planet.

Our climate footprint commitment is to work on future calculations to establish our product individual climate footprint. This will help our customer base make more informed decisions which can directly impact their own climate actions.

We want to inspire the energy industry as a whole to act responsibly and contribute to solving world climate challenges and meeting net zero by 2050.

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY & GOALS

We have a clear focus on how we want to achieve our sustainability vision and overall goals. Our strategy is developed to align with an ever changing world, and its important for us to grow with it. We have been working hard to develop our strategy that focusses on flexibility for rapid growth with a very smart risk mitigation plan that helps us quickly address challenges while meeting our goals.

Our strategy, together with our goals, set the guidelines for our work on sustainability.

As a forward thinking future proof business we need to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our products and the projects we work on contribute to a large number of the goals.

CORPORATE CLIMATE FOOTPRINT

As a fast growing company we are working to outline our corporate climate goals, the targets we need to set and what we need to do to monitor and decrease out total climate impact per product produced.

When we started out we couldn’t have imagined the incredible growth journey that lay ahead of us and the positive impact that our holistic product offering and technology could have on the world. Our products can be found in more than 50 countries across six continents.

Our ambition is to only use energy for renewable sources and our battery energy storage systems which will allow us to cover our energy requirements 24/7. We are also focused on ensuring that our production partners and suppliers also contribute to the same sustainability goals that we strive for.

For 2022 the plan is to update our sustainability strategy and goals to be more in line with where we are at now vs. where we want to be.

OUR EXPANDING COVERAGE

In such a short space of time we now have several offices around the world (with even more to come)? To be specific, we’ve dramatically increased the production of our products which we produce whenever possible locally. If this increase in battery energy storage products means a decrease in the consumption of Fossil Fuels, then we, as a company, have contributed to a healthier and more climate friendly planet.

With rapid growth comes greater responsibility. Calculating, mapping and reducing out climate impact across our entire circular economy becomes a real challenge, but we are here to stay and committed to the challenge.

Our products are so popular because they greatly contribute to reversing the climate crisis. People love Ampowr and want to see Ampowr become the local utility of the future, we then need to focus on being better at getting the volume of product out there. To do this we have a flexible but robust supply chain strategy that allows us to ramp up volumes to world changing levels, exactly what is needed for the energy industry to contribute to a more sustainable, prosperous world.

Even with our huge supply chain partnerships, we still anticipate that we won’t have enough capacity to meet the Global shift and demand in energy storage, so we continue to focus on qualifying additional strategically placed supply chain partners across all six continents we supply to. This means it’s extremely important for us to find partners that share our values and sustainability focus.

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Social sustainability is just as important as environmental sustainability. It includes everything from basic human rights to well-being.

The risks and challenges associated with social sustainability look different across different parts of our value chain, and in different parts of the world.

An increased number of employees and new production partners and suppliers, means we are facing more risks in the area of social sustainability. It is important for us to be focused on such things as discrimination, corruption, data protection, forced labor, terms of employment and the right to union representation.

To make sure that we are working together with partners and suppliers who share our values and vision for sustainability, we use supplier evaluations. This helps us assess and identify risks associated with things like the origin of raw materials, the percentage of temporary employees, and health and safety regulations. All our suppliers and production partners must also either commit to comply with our code of conduct or present their own, which needs to be at a standard equal to ours.

ETHICAL SOURCING

Ampowr is committed to global social responsibility and implements ethical procurement to promote sustainable development of the supply chain.

Ampowr is committed to the responsible procurement of raw materials used in our products. We require our suppliers to ensure that they are not intentionally or accidentally encouraging human rights abuses in those high-risk areas. Supplier shall have a policy to reasonably prevent and reduce the risk that materials in the products they manufacture, do not directly or indirectly finance or benefit groups that may contribute to or be perpetrators of serious human rights abuses, or serious environment, health and safety concerns, or serious corruption in affected countries and areas.

We will engage with industry organizations to seek sustainable solutions with customers and suppliers to drive the sustainable development of the material supply chain.

TRANSPORT

The transport of our products can have a major impact on our climate footprint, which is why wherever possible we work to source materials, components and manufacture locally, it makes no sense for us to ship steel and copper around the world.

A large part of the overall carbon footprint is connected to the distribution of final products shipped to our different markets. Our logistics department works tirelessly to find the friendliest transport methods while mitigating cost impact to the end user.

We’re constantly looking for new ways of delivering our products, which means shorter transportation distances, quicker distribution, and a reduction in air transportation.

Unsurprisingly we need a good logistic setup in order to handle our growth, and we’d like to keep growing, but obviously we want to do it responsibly. So it’s really important to us that we develop and use logistics and transportation solutions that are as sustainable as possible.

PACKAGING

The most important function of a package is to protect its contents. There are a lot of points to consider when it comes to sustainable packaging. There’s the origin of the raw materials, how much material is used, its manufacturing processes and recyclability, how the package prevents damage or reduces waste, how it can enable efficient transport, etc.

Our focus is on reducing climate impact, which can be measured over the packaging’s entire life cycle and gives the best overall picture of sustainability. Most life cycle assessment studies of packaging conclude that the raw materials (origin and consumption) are especially important to climate impact.

Things we need to consider when selecting our packaging:

Resource efficiency (low weight): We should use as little packaging material as possible without compromising its function.

Renewable sources: The packaging material that we use should be responsibly grown and produced with energy from renewable sources

RECYCLING

Using resources responsibly includes keeping materials in the loop beyond just a single use. In an ideal world, all materials would be produced from renewable sources and could be reused or recycled infinitely. It’s a goal we should all aim for, but there’s still a long way to go to achieve it.

We strive to use circular and fully recyclable materials. As we make progress, we sometimes might find ourselves being forced to make trade-offs between climate impact and recycling potential. That’s because materials are being innovated at pace, and sometimes recycling systems aren’t designed quickly enough to handle these new materials. Or, there needs to be a minimum volume in circulation before the recycling system is economically feasible.

TEAM COMMITMENT

Our colleagues mean everything to us. Without them, there is no “us”. We know our success and development are entirely dependent on their dedication and knowledge. It is important to ensure that all of our team are committed to sustainability. Our culture is people led, everyone is encouraged to be themselves and contribute their own views and perspectives.
